Just right for snow! 1/8/10

It has been soooo cold that we haven't been able to go out to play. Everyone wanted it to snow today but no such luck! However, we had snow anyway!! After we finished our lessons for the day, we invited the other first grade over and we read a book called "Axel Annie." It was about a school bus driver that always got her children to school... even during terrible snow storms. They never got to have snow days off from school. We don't either since it doesn't snow here! Earlier in the day we read some books about snow and how it forms. When the book was over we went to our tables with partners from the other class and made our own snow. It was so much fun to see the small amount of white powder turn into a cup full of snow instantly! We had a great time playing with it and then took it home to show our families.

Snow fun!

The snow was not cold or wet like real snow. It is actually the same type of filling used in baby diapers. This grossed them out until I reassured them their powder did not come out of a baby's diaper!

Fun snow to play with.

That is amazing!

This group is pouring in the water and watching their snow appear like magic!

Wow! That is so cool.

This is fun!

Here comes the snow.
