USING SPELLING CITY

If your child would like to practice their words at spellingcity.com please click on the link to the right. Click on "find a list" and type in Karen Ward. Select Karen Ward (Apalachicola Bay Charter School). This week's list is U1W3 followed by E for Eagles group or ST for Seminoles and Tigers. Your child knows what group he/she is in. This is a geat way to take a practice test as well!

Remember: We love comments!
I will be out Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 (my father is having another biopsy... remember him in your prayers!) and we have a walking field trip to the garden planned. Mrs. Thompson will be taking my place and we will have a substitute teacher's assistant but a few parent volunteers are needed. If you are able to tag along, please let me know. Sorry for the short notice... Mrs. Moses thought she scheduled the trip for next week rather than this week. We decided to leave it as planned since the weather has been so nice. We need to get the plot cleaned up and ready to get some fall plants growing! Remember, you may send in garden hand tools and gloves for your child and a bottle of water would be nice as well!

The Great Kapok Tree 9/29/09

The day finally came that everyone had been waiting for... the day to perform the "real" play. After many days of preparing costumes, props, and learning their lines they finally got to be actors and actresses and perform for their family and friends. Everyone did an awesome job! I am so proud of everyone and got many compliments on their performance! Teaching is definitely a rewarding job!!

Way to go 1st grade!!

**If anyone has pictures to share, please put them on a disk for me and I can publish them on the blog.**

Fruits and Vegetables snack! 9/24/09

Sharing our egg plant snack.

MG... not so sure about it!

CA seems to be enjoying the egg plant!

BS... trying the egg plant.

Today we enjoyed (or at least some of us did) egg plant for our snack provided throught the Fruits and Vegetables Grant. Most of the students at least tasted the egg plant although a couple wouldn't even taste!

Happy 7th Birthday, Gillian!! 9/23/09

AJ helps GT celebrate!

The whole gang is ready to enjoy brownies
with sprinkles... GT's favorite!

Time to interview GT so we can make her
birthday magazine. It is fun to learn about our friends.

QC posed with her birthday hat... her birthday
was in August before school started.

QC is being interviewed for her birthday book, too. We will try to get the illustrations finished this week. We have been very busy getting ready for our play next week so we haven't had time to finish the birthday books yet.

OPEN HOUSE 9-22-09

Open house was a huge success. I hope a great time was had by those that were able to stop by. I know many of you are very busy with soccer and other evening activities so I appreciate you taking the time to come see your child's classroom and finding out how your child spends his or her day. Your children were very excited about showing off their room and all of their learning centers.
