Slimy Fun! 2/26/10

Our monkey chain finally reached the floor so we earned our class reward! It has really been hard to learn to walk the hallways quietly! Since everyone loves to do science experiments so much, I decided to reward them with a slimy day! We learned all about animal slime and human slime (yes- we have slime!). We learned that frogs, worms, snails, slugs, etc. have lots of slime and would die without it. We also learned that saliva and snot are a form of slime! So all animals and all humans have some form of slime. We even discovered that some plants have slime.
We made slime that looked a lot like snot... so guess what they turned it in to! We had a lot of fake sneezes going on!

We also made "guts" that started out all stringy and slimey. After working with them for awhile we had a nice big glob of slime to play with.

We also made "glow" worms and other colored worms. We made frog eggs as well. All in all.... it was a great reward through a learning experience!

Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year's celebration 2/12/10

Today we celebrated Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year. We made a hat like Abe Lincoln's to keep our Valentines in. We learned that Abe Lincoln stored important letters in his tall hat so we thought we could store our important cards in a hat like his. We enjoyed eating a variety of Chinese foods at our party along with the sweets. Thanks to everyone for sending in different foods for us to try.

Thanks to our wonderful Moms for helping today!
